March Missions Update

A word from your missions office

By HEITH MITCHELL

BMA Church Family, you are amazing. You really live up to your “Missionary” Baptist name. I am taken aback at how you love and encourage your missionaries and their families. You accept and take them in across any divide or boundary the world sets up. You pray for them which is evidenced in the way that God is working and providing. You are faithful to their salaries and generous to their work funds. COVID and an unpredictable world hasn’t slowed you down. You have been faithful and your generosity has increased. Your missionaries face the trials and struggles you face but they are so blessed to have you as family. Thank you.

I don’t know about you, but I have never felt so homesick or out of place in this world. With sin, war, sickness and inflation, I am vividly aware and glad that, “this world is not my home. I’m Just passing through.”

Do you feel it? We were made for something better and bigger. Thanks to Jesus, we get to anticipate that better place.  For now we need to be good ambassadors. We need to tell everyone about our eternal homeland with our good King. We must tell them how to become citizens! We must do this with more urgency because we are running out of time. It is good to be homesick.

Prayer Request

We are beginning the search for a missionary care coordinator for our Spanish speaking missions in Texas. After six years, Arnulfo Maldonado is no longer in this role. We are thankful for his faithfulness and hard work and are glad that he continues to be a part of our BMA of Texas Family as the pastor of Inglesia Victoria en Christo Church in Spring which he started and leads as pastor. We honor him as a man of God and thank him for his service. Will you join me in prayer for the next man that God has to serve your missionaries and connect with your BMA of Texas family that speaks Spanish.

Chris Mindi  – Anchor Austin Mission in Leander

chris.mindi@bmats.edu

Matthew 16:24-28 talks about individual responsibility and seeking God in everyday life to give Him the priority  and see how we can join Him in reaching our communities. We never know why God puts us in a location if we do not ask God to help us see why. We are being blessed every day with the opportunities to serve the unchurched. We continue to ask God to show us individually how we can use our God given gifts and talents. Only when we serve and show God’s love generously and genuinely does it touch the hearts of others.

Prayer Needs:

Pray that we find Indians who have a heart for other Indians who aren’t saved. Pray that we build strong friendships with those who are not believers.

Guadalupe Robles-GoForth Mission, Kilgore

First, I want to thank all of the BMA of Texas churches for all your support and prayers. We continue to do the work of the Lord in this mission, reaching the lost, discipling them, equipping the saints for the work of the ministry. We currently have five active small groups and two new believers are been discipled.

Prayer Needs:

Pray that the Lord will touch the hearts of the lost among us, that they would repent of their sin and accept Christ as their Savior.

When our Beloved Lord sees our disposition he quickly moves to use us for His glory and honor.

Well, we have a building! Now we need to remodel it. I am so thankful and humbled by the generosity of our BMA of Texas churches! You helped us reach our estimated need for the remodel even before we closed on the building. We are so overwhelmed. Now we have to get this process started and move toward a public launch this summer. We are about to start our second group along with a men’s and women’s group. We are committed to taking it one step at a time and keeping the main thing the main thing. Thank you again for all you do. I’m so proud to be a part of this great association.

July Missions Update

A word from your missions office

By HEITH MITCHELL

It has been a big month in your BMA of Texas Missions movement!

In June of 2016, BMA of Texas Missions Trustees approved two new mission works. The first two missions to walk out our new funding, training and accountability structures. This month, we are celebrating these two churches stepping out of BMAT funding support. We are celebrating with them. They are both ready for this moment. Will you join me in congratulating and praising God for this moment in the lives of The Bridge Church, Waxahachie, with Bro. Matthew Prather, pastor, and Redeemer’s Love Church with Bro. Spencer Simpson, pastor? These churches need our prayers and deserve our congratulations. Will you or your church send them a letter?

The Bridge Church, PO Box 635, Midlothian, TX 76065

Redeemer’s Love Houston, 7801 Nairn St., Houston, TX 77074

We have already been able to celebrate with the Redeemer’s Love Church Family.  Here are some pictures:

Will you join me in praying for these and the 34 other Mission Points you are supporting? Let’s pray for souls saved, disciples made, leaders equipped and churches started for King Jesus and His Kingdom!

Brad Holcomb – Redemption Hill Mission in Fort Worth

brad@redemptionhillfw.com

Through our experience in the ICU last week, the Lord impressed Psalm 23 on our hearts. We are asking the Spirit to help us not only know this psalm cognitively but experientially.

Prayer Needs:

Please pray for our family, that we would grow in our love for one another and adjust well to all of the changes in our life. Also, pray for the people of Redemption Hill that we would be bold in our evangelism with the neighbors the Lord has placed around us.

Timothy Alba – The Bridge in Seagoville

timalba1986@gmail.com

God has been doing some amazing things in our city this past month. It has been amazing to see God work in the lives of people. While it’s been awesome seeing people grow, I have also seen conflict between others. No matter what we do in ministry, there will always be conflict. It’s how we handle each case with love and patience. This can be hard at times, but it is necessary when things get tough. I have found the best response is not in how fast we respond to conflict, but patience through the circumstances and waiting to see some things play out before responding. I pray that God continues to give us wisdom through these challenging times.

Cesar Leal – New Mission in San Antonio

cesarleal2002@yahoo.com

Perseverance, worship, and obedience to God is the key to keeping your work active and moving towards the goal that is this time the planting of new churches. We cannot allow the external world to weaken us, much less to stop us. We are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus!!

Roberto Marcelletti – Anthony Drive Mission, Ennis

robbyypatty@hotmail.com

We see the great need our community has to listen to the good news. People are suffering and in need of the message of the gospel that is the power of God to save.

Mike Watt & Trevor Cowan – Cross-Work Mission, Tahoka

mike.watt@crossworkchurch.org

Our church has been putting out a ton of effort into our community through outreach and knocking on doors. Please pray that we see fruit from those efforts. We have had a ton of positive conversations and even general interest in attending, but no new visits from these efforts yet. Please pray Jesus grows His church.

Robert Lee – Harmony Baptist Church in Normangee Replant

bro.robert.f.lee@gmail.com

God is continuing to work here in Normangee. Although the summer months are always a tough season of ministry, I am encouraged by the impact that our church is beginning to have in our community. Involvement in community events, like our town’s Juneteenth barbecue cookoff, have given us the opportunity to show the love of Christ to others around us and to be a light in our community.

Prayer Needs:

Pray that as the summer months wind down, we would be prepared for the ministry opportunities on the horizon in the coming months.

Jaime Henriquez – Fuente De Vida Eterna Mission, Houston

dairyjeny@yahoo.com

We continue to experience the work of the Lord among our community and the church. We have started to see things return to a sense of normality. We have had some new visitors coming to the services and more people willing to talk to us as we share the gospel with them.

Prayer Needs:

Pray that the Lord will provide Please pray for the salvation of the lost among our community and that our mission will grow spiritually and numerically.

Wesley Burke & Blake Moore – Redemption Baptist Mission, Nacogdoches

wesleydavidburke@gmail.com

Our church has begun preaching through the Book of Ecclesiastes this month, and I have grown so much already in the Lord because of its dangerous doctrine. My challenge to readers is that if you haven’t spent time with the wise Preacher Qoheleth in that book, you should do so. It is helpful in these days in which we find ourselves.

Prayer Needs:

Pray that we will steadfast in our witnessing opportunities as a body. We have many!

Chris Driver – West Texas Multiplication Network/Texas Missionary Care

cjdriver316@gmail.com

It has been a very exciting and encouraging month here in west Texas. After starting at our first Oasis Life Group last month, we were able to meet every week, even on Father’s Day! The group just loves one another and loves being together. It’s so awesome to see them growing and learning and truly engaging the Word together. We had several opportunities to serve one another in needs that came up. We each developed our own oikos map (names of people in our spheres of influence that need to know the Lord) and have begun praying for opportunities to share Jesus with them. We are developing skills in the area of how to properly study the Bible with a focus on obedience to what we learn and not just gathering knowledge. We are also learning to share our story and share God’s story. This group is meeting in our house in Whitharral and it’s going great. So our next step will be to start a new group in Levelland and/or one of the other surrounding communities. Thank you for your prayers and your support of BMA Texas Missions! We are so proud to serve you and with you and to be counted among you!

Prayer Needs:

Please be in prayer for the start of our next group. Please pray for the names on our oikos lists that need to know the Lord. You may not know all their names but God does and I know He wants them to be saved more than we do! And please continue to pray for the towns of Levelland, Whitharral, Smyer, Sundown, Whiteface and Morton.

Neptaly Molina – Iglesia Bautista Mission, Nacogdoches

nrmolina23@gmail.com

Recently, I visited my son, Josue, who was celebrating his birthday and is at the house of some Venezuelan friends in Utah. We worshipped with the BMA mission in the city of Morgan where the missionaries are Gavin Roberts and Chase Twin. It was a great blessing. The time of worship was beautiful and we enjoyed the preaching and fellowship.

Isaias Rojas Osechas – Church Plant in The Woodlands

isaias.rojas9952@gmail.com

Thank you for your support in this new area of The Woodlands. I pray that God will have new opportunities in several more families with whom we are in touch. Please pray for my health.

Ronnie Mills – Kingdom Chapel Mission, Saginaw/North Fort Worth

ronnie@kchapel.org

“Let brotherly love continue” ( Hebrews 13:1). I am reminded of our love for one another. The same love that our Lord showed us. Let us continue to be faithful to one another in the love of Christ.

Prayer Needs:

Please pray for our mission, that we will continue to see the Lord’s hand upon us and Him going before us.

Jesse Hales/Chris Mindi – Anchor Austin Mission in Leander

halesjesse@gmail.com | chris.mindi@bmats.edu

Thank you for your support through prayers and supporting the BMA Texas Missions. We need you! Thank you for being the backbone of missions through your generosity. We at Anchor, Austin believe and commit our lives to doing God’s Work, and you are collaborating with us in His mission on this earth.

Prayer Needs:

Continue to pray for our summer outreach projects and reaching out to those pockets of people who have never tasted God’s love or never knew who Jesus Christ is.

March Missions Update

A word from your missions office

By HEITH MITCHELL

Jesus instructed us to, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Jesus not only taught this truth but he modeled it perfectly. The people around Him didn’t always want to love their neighbors. They looked for a loophole. Jesus was asked, “Who is our neighbor?” You likely know the story Jesus used to teach a Jewish audience that a Samaritan was a good neighbor.

Emmanuel Baptist Church in Garland just loved their neighbors well. This BMA church started back in the 1960s near downtown Garland. This church saw healthy missional ministry for many years. They have struggled for a few years now. Their neighborhood transitioned in ways they didn’t realize. In the last 5 years, they have gone into their neighborhood to learn that it now speaks spanish. They began to pray for these neighbors and for laborers who could reach them. Last year, they were able to start a Spanish speaking church. They just chose to end their services and leave their building to the Spanish church. This church is reaching the neighborhood and BMA of Texas Missions is helping.

Go Forth Baptist Church in Kilgore is loving their neighbors well. They are sharing Jesus and seeing salvation and life transformation stories. They recently outgrew their building and merged with another church assuming a bigger facility. The question of what to do with the old Stone Ridge building came up. Obviously, they could have sold it and funded future expansion. They chose instead to love their Spanish-speaking neighbors. There is currently no Spanish-speaking Baptist church in Kilgore. Go Forth is starting one out of their old property and BMA Texas Missions is helping.

I would love to come and share Texas Missions with your church or association. I have open dates and look forward to hearing from you. We also have resources we can share with you. Let us know.

Jesse Hales / Chris Mindi – Anchor Austin in Leander

God is good! It is always encouraging when you feel led to pray for someone you know who needs Jesus and then that person shows up at your door unexpectedly or you run into them unplanned in the community. God has been faithfully giving us opportunities just like this to share the Gospel. It’s also very encouraging when people hear about your church before they even move to the area and connect with you wanting to meet up. It is obvious that God is working and wants Anchor, Austin to a bright source of His light in the north Austin metro area. Praise Him with us for all He is doing. Thank you for your support.

Prayer Needs:

We have had a few of our families in our small groups tell us recently that they will be moving out of the area. Although this is expected in any ministry, I think it is especially hard for a new church plant to lose a good percentage of committed families all at once. Please pray that God will be with these families and lead them to others who will continue to faithfully disciple them in God’s Word. Pray also that we will be able to quickly fill the void they will leave behind in our groups. Thank you.

Chris Driver – West Texas Multiplication Network/Texas Missionary Care

“The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps” (Proverbs 16:9). The longer we strive toward the vision God has laid upon our heart for reaching West Texas with the gospel, the more I have experienced this truth. But I am so thankful for the clarity that God continues to provide as we remain faithful to that vision. He has recently established some steps that I had avoided for several years. We are so excited about these new steps, but they promise to stretch us and challenge us in so many areas of our lives and faith. I will be sharing these new steps soon, but for now, please just join us in praying specifically for the towns of Levelland, Whitharral, Sundown, Smyer, Whiteface and Morton. We continue to marvel at God’s goodness and faithfulness and His willingness to use us in His plan to reach west Texas. Thank you all for your support and your love and your prayers.

BMA churches, what a pleasure it is planting alongside each of you. We trust and pray the Lord is blessing according to His will in your context as He is here as well. Thank you for all of your prayers and support. We are doing well, and have seen the Lord moving among us as a church body. One celebration this month is we’ve received two new families into our family covenant, and we’re very excited about that. We continue to press forward in Christ and His calling on our lives. Blessings.

God has been good to us even in the midst of an ice storm. We were given a great opportunity to demonstrate the love of Christ to our community by simply opening our doors and offering for others to come in out of the cold. I firmly believe the gesture, as well as other ways we were able to show the love of Christ this month, were noticed and reflected Christ’s love for the folks around Normangee.

Prayer Needs:

Pray for God’s guidance as we fill new roles and begin to lay the framework for areas of ministry not currently in place.

Biblical Passage: Philippians 3:10-14; 2 Timothy 4:7,8

Romans 1:16-17 is a message consistent with the time in which we are living. I see in Paul’s courage in preaching the gospel. I see in Paul the courage not to be ashamed to lose that redemptive message. This text appeals to me and also moves me to preach the gospel. It motivates me and challenges me not to be ashamed of my task that I have to fulfill.

Roberto Marcelletti – Anthony Drive Mission, Ennis

robbyypatty@hotmail.com

We are trusting that the Lord will guide us in this process of carrying the gospel and that people will approach Christ in repentance and faith.

Timothy Alba – New Mission in Seagoville

timalba1986@gmail.com

I have learned that running a race can be difficult. Paul used this analogy to explain to the Corinthians that running well will end in reward. However, this race feels more like a marathon than a one time event. I tend to over plan and get lost in my directions at times. I need to slow down and bring things back into perspective when making plans and reaching goals. I also need to not get so down on myself when plans don’t get accomplished. I know that God is at work and I am where I need to be, but I know that I want to move things faster than I should. I pray that God gives me patience and I learn to celebrate the small victories God gives me each day.

Prayer Needs:

Pray that God gives me wisdom each day. There are situations that I am not always equipped to handle, but I know God is in control and teaching me each day. I pray that I stay on course and remember why I went on mission to begin with.

Spencer Simpson – Redeemer’s Love Mission, Houston

spncrsmpsn@gmail.com

Thank you for your continued support and prayers. The Lord has continued to bless us as a church as 2021 has gotten underway, and we are excited to see how He continues to use us in southwest Houston to advance His Kingdom.

Prayer Needs:

One of the greatest needs in our community is godly families. In particular, godly men who would be responsible fathers and husbands. Please pray that the Lord would continue to build relationships with families and men in our community. We truly believe that southwest Houston could look totally different in generations to come as the gospel impacts families here, and we want BMA of Texas churches like ours to be a driving force behind that.

February Missions Update

A word from your missions office

By HEITH MITCHELL

God still can and He still is! He has saved 24 souls through the efforts of your missionaries this month. He is still about His mission. Remember how He ended his instructions to his church in The Great Commission, “I am with you always till the end of the age.” Brothers and sisters, that promise is alive today. Christ is with us and empowers us to carry out His mission.

Your missionaries are about that mission. They are faithfully persevering through trials just like each of you. That perseverance is being and will be rewarded. We must persevere until we know how to adjust or reach the other side of this pandemic.

BMAT family, we love you. It is a joy to serve you and serve beside you. Thank you for your faithful support in prayers and giving. If we can assist you, we want to. We have training you can come to or we can bring your way. We can partner with you or share with you. Let’s partner for the Kingdom and pursue…

When I think of all the amazing churches in the BMA of Texas, I’m reminded of how Paul felt about the church in Ephesus. Paul wrote, “For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers” (Ephesians 1:15-16). As your missionaries, we are deeply aware of your faithfulness to us. And like Paul, we can’t thank the Lord enough for you, your support and your prayers, especially during this difficult season that has posed so many uniquely complicated challenges. In spite of it all, we press on here in west Texas. I’m thankful for the leadership groups God has given me to lead and I’m especially excited that one of my leaders has started his first discipleship group. That’s what it’s all about! Please continue to pray for us. We will definitely continue to give thanks for you.

Prayer Needs:

Continue to pray for persons of peace in the towns of west Texas.

BMA family, I wish wholeheartedly that I could express my thanksgiving in person for all of your prayers and support as I battled COVID in the hospital. I want you to know the Lord has shown me great mercy and answered your prayers in bringing me home to my family. Thank you also for our church family who is doing well, who also persevered through this challenge for us. We love you all and we’re looking forward to pressing on with that in which the Lord has tasked us.

Prayer Needs:

Please continue to pray for our church as we continue the work in the Lord here in Saginaw. We are in the process of raising some new leaders, and we would love your prayer. Also, we’re trying to figure out unique ways to reach our community that will meet specific needs while bringing the gospel to those in need. Please pray over this, that God would open doors for us.

Dual Support BMAA/BMAT

Matthew@discoverthebridge.com

We started this year with a series called, Run to Win. We talked about how running to win looks like running toward Him. Through this series, we have focused on discipleship and the importance of our walk with Christ being stronger at the end of 2021 than it was at the beginning. Please continue to pray for us as we try to lead people from where they are to where God wants them to be. We continue to reach and minster to those that are far from God. One man, in particular, stands out to me this month as he is now going to church for the first time in his life. Please pray for him and many others like him to accept Jesus as their personal Savior. Thank you for your continued support and prayers during this challenging time for churches.

God has been very faithful to us, even in the tough times. Although the past month or so after the holiday season has been challenging, I am encouraged to see God provide for some great opportunities to reach out into our community in the coming months.

Prayer Needs:

Pray for continued opportunities to demonstrate the love of Christ to families in our community.

In these Bible passages, the apostle Paul had concrete goals– to know more about Christ (v. 10), to lose the world in order to win Jesus Christ (v. 8) and to follow the target to reach the purpose he wished to achieve (v. 14). To sum it up, his goal was to fight the good fight, finish the race and keep the faith (2 Timothy 4:7-8).  This for me is also a goal that I have for 2021. This represents the four pillars on which I rest to let God do His work through me in the Renacer Baptist Church of Nacogdoches.

Prayer Needs:

Pray that the Lord will help me to follow in the footsteps of Paul, in fulfilling these steps in my ministry at this time.

Culture of discipleship through the gospel is the vision God has given me. This is not achieved with events but a persevering and patient work that takes a long time. The new followers of Jesus from the beginning are injected into their DNA the vision of doing the same with other people and these new disciples are placed in new works as they did in Acts 14.

November Missions Update

A word from your missions office

By HEITH MITCHELL

I really had an enjoyable and uplifting time at the BMA of Texas State Meeting. The Word was preached faithfully and the reports from our ministries were encouraging. The music was so uplifting. The Farley Street Family welcomed us warmly and took care of us across a long busy day. I love that we are hosted by church families. It changes our meetings for the better. Thank you Farley Street, Ellis-Hill Association, officers, departments, Justin Owens, Cassie Fulton, speakers, musicians and breakout teachers for a good annual BMAT Meeting.

I hope you were able to get to know your missionaries at the meeting. They enjoyed your fellowship and encouragement. The commissioning service was a time that meant so much to each missionary, especially the four new works that were introduced at the service.

BMAT family, we love you. It is a joy to serve you and serve beside you. If we can assist you we want to. We have trainings you can come to or we can bring your way. We can partner with you or share with you. Let’s partner for the Kingdom and pursue:

PROJECT 2029
100 New Churches/10 years

  • That we see an aggressive multiplication movement of churches who make disciples, equip and release leaders, and start churches for the glory of God and the advancement of his Kingdom Mission
  • That each new mission begin with a plan to begin three new churches in their first 10 years
  • That pastors and churches of the association be encouraged and equipped to start new churches
  • That we connect, evaluate, identify and train new prospective church planters

I would love to come and share Texas Missions with your church or association. I have open dates and look forward to hearing from you.

A word from your missionaries

Cesar Leal – New Mission in San Antonio

cesarleal2002@yahoo.com

I praise God for this month of October where I was able to share more of the Word of God and feel the support of 12 missionary brothers who visited me to hold workshops and evangelize in the streets. We saw God glorified.

Prayer Needs:

Pray for my family in Colombia. Pray also for wife as she is going to have an operation.

Kingsley Nduka – Light House Mission in Houston

kingedu700@gmail.com

Let’s give God praise for his faithfulness over us this season.

Prayer Needs:

Please pray for a meeting location for us to be able to gather groups together in one place.

Wesley Burke – Redemption Baptist Mission, Nacogdoches

wesleydavidburke@gmail.com

Our new church studied the precious words of assurance spoken by Jesus in John 10 this month. I will remind you readers of it as well. We shall not be taken out of Jesus’ hands if we believe in him. He and the Father are one, and we shall not be taken out of the hands of Father either. Those eternal hands are the blessed assurance of our hope, and to think they were spread wide and pierced for you and me. (John 10:28-30).

Prayer Needs:

Petition God with us that he would grow our church through authentic conversion!

Jesse Hales / Chris Mindi – Anchor Austin in Leander

halesjesse@gmail.com | chris.mindi@bmats.edu

We at Anchor, Austin thank you for praying for us and supporting us as we go into the holiday season. Pray for us to have more opportunities to be more effective in spreading the gospel in this part of the state of Texas. Our vision is to be a multi-ethnic congregation of believers anchored and maturing in Christ with discipleship as our heartbeat.

Prayer Needs:

Continue to pray for Anchor, Austin, especially for those we are already ministering to, that they would mature in their faith. Pray also for our ongoing outreach ministry specifically to unbelievers.

Chris Driver – West Texas Multiplication Network/Texas Missionary Care

cjdriver316@gmail.com

Back to basics! That’s been my focus this month. It’s so easy to get lost in a big vision and focus on all the things that need to happen down the road and neglect the things that need to happen right now. So, I have been focusing on keeping the main thing the main thing; that is, making disciples who will make disciples and let Christ build His church! Training with my six leaders is back on track and going great! I know they are going to be starting a new generation soon.

Prayer Needs:

Pray for the Nick Brockway family, more potential leaders, and for the towns of Morton, Whitharral, Aspermont, Haskell, Meadow, Lamesa, Sundown, Tahoka, Loop and Levelland

Isaias Rojas Osechas-Church Plant in Spring

isaias.roja5299@gmail.com

Thank you for the moral, economic and prayer support for us in achieving our goals as we minister in Spring, Katy and Conroe. We praise God for people we are leading through doctrinal studies who will be baptized at the end of November.

Ronnie Mills – Kingdom Chapel Mission, Saginaw/Fort Worth

ronnie@kchapel.org

Things are going well here in Saginaw. The Lord continues to provide for us, and is keeping the doors open for His gospel to be proclaimed. We’re truly grateful for all your prayers and support for us as a church. We have remained committed to the call upon our lives and relying upon the power of our God, to help push us through this difficult season. We’re praying for the BMA of Texas, as well, and are so grateful to be a part of this great association of churches.

Prayer Needs:

Please be in prayer for us to continue strong in the Lord, that He would continue to open doors for us here in Saginaw for the gospel to go forward. Pray for the unity of our body, and also that we would be of sound mind and doctrine. We believe your sincere prayers for us make a big difference in the work of our ministry, and we just ask that you would press forward with us in spirit. If you would like to help us financially with any needs our mission may have, you may contact me at ronnie@kchapel.org. Blessings to each one of you in Christ!

Matthew Prather – The Bridge Mission, Midlothian/Waxahachie

Dual Support BMAA/BMAT

Matthew@discoverthebridge.com

It is hard to believe that it is already October. This year is flying by. This year has been an interesting year for all of us. COVID-19 is not something that any of us expected to have to deal with when the year started. As with every other church, it has caused us to adjust in many different ways. We are continuing to reach our community in new and different ways. Social media and our website have played big roles in this as we continue to connect with people of all different kinds of needs and struggles. Almost daily, we are able to minister to someone who has found and reaches out in these ways. Please pray for us as we continue to impact our community in different ways. Pray for those to whom we are ministering who are hurting and struggling. Thank you for your continued support and prayers!

Spencer Simpson – Redeemer’s Love Mission, Houston

spncrsmpsn@gmail.com

God has been moving greatly at Redeemer’s Love! We are overjoyed to begin looking at planting more churches in southwest Houston as the Lord continues to bless us with a growing flock to shepherd. Thank you for your prayers and support. God is blessing your faithfulness and kindness greatly.

Prayer Needs:

As we grow and begin to look at planting more churches, we ask that you would pray that the Lord will continue to supply or raise up men in our congregation that will be faithful shepherds of these future churches.

Jaime Henriquez – Fuente De Vida Eterna Mission, Houston

dairyjeny@yahoo.com

Greetings from our mission to all the churches of the BMA of  Texas. We thank you for all the support you have given us. We are advancing the Kingdom of the Lord reaching the lost for Christ. God is moving in a special way here in Houston saving souls and transforming the families in our communities.

Prayer Needs:

Pray that God will provide our own place for the worship services for our mission.

Mike Watt – Cross-Work Mission, Tahoka

mike.watt@crossworkchurch.org

This has been a good month for Cross-Work Church. Our outreach efforts have landed us back in the elementary, middle school and high school. Those Bible studies are up and running. They are very exciting to be a part of each week. At the elementary school, we have around 20 kids attending, and the high school and middle school have six. Each week, we answer difficult questions and help kids understand and follow Jesus.

Prayer Needs:

Please be in prayer for us as we move forward. Our disciple making process is being refined and we are trying to balance that with our outreach efforts. Please pray that God would bless our efforts to seek and save the lost and make disciples in our town.

Robert Lee – Harmony Baptist Church in Normangee Replant

bro.robert.f.lee@gmail.com

This month has been exciting! Although the threat of COVID-19 still puts a damper on a lot of things, we were able to begin reaching out to some of the young children and their families in our community this month. We opened our doors to our local Cub Scouts, who are forming a pack and using our facility to meet. We also held an outreach event at the end of this month and gave out free candy and hot dogs to children and their families in our community. There are even more good things on the horizon. We serve such a wonderful Savior!

Prayer Needs:

Pray for continued blessing in reaching out to families with children in our community.

Neptaly Molina – Iglesia Bautista Mission, Nacogdoches

nrmolina23@gmail.com

I want my life to be a motivation to all the people around me, starting with my family. I want to motivate my wife, my son, my church, the leaders and pastors of my association. We made a great impact in our missionary and evangelistic activity that we carried out in San Antonio Oct. 16-18. Pastors and leaders were impressed with the multiplication workshop that I shared there, and they want to continue learning about the missionary material and strategy to refocus on the Great Commission and grow as a work of God. Soon, I will be giving this workshop again at Suburban Wood, Humble, to pastors and leaders of our Hispanic work, and I hope it will be a great blessing.

Prayer Needs:

I ask for your prayers that God will help me to continue doing the work, that this pandemic will end. Pray that God will open more for us to preach the gospel and achieve our goals.

Cesar Cantu – Carpenter’s House Church in Oyster Creek

cesarhcantu42@gmail.com

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Do not let it be all about following rules. We cannot take the stance that I have gotten my life together and I am making good choices and in doing so see the errors of others are magnified.

Prayer Needs:

Our prayer is that God would make us better disciples so that we can make more disciples.

Timothy Alba – Resident Intern in Seagoville

September/October Missions Update

A word from your missions office

By HEITH MITCHELL

Thirty saved in September! Good reports of progress made at mission points! Are we emerging from the virus fog? I hope so! I am proud of your missionaries. They feel the weight and urgency of the Great Commission and they are about it.  This Church Age will expire. We must tell this generation about our Lord and help them to be His disciples. Politics will not change anyone’s life. Jesus will change their life and can change the lives of the generations that come after. I know we are two months from the election, but let’s not lose sight of our most urgent task. A good soldier doesn’t get tangled up in civilian affairs. Instead, we seek to please the one who enlisted us as a soldier (2 Timothy 2:4).

We had a good retreat together in August. Here is my favorite picture of us together.

We all join you in praying for the end of this virus and shutdown. We pray that God will get glory in this season.

We would love to share with your church about what God is up to and show you how you can be involved. We also have tools we can provide you to help you become a partner in church planting. Reach out to us.

Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Join us in laboring and praying for:

Pray with me for society to open again so we may draw closer to people to share the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let us remain faithful to the Great Commission.

These are difficult times but that is where you can see better the glory of God. Let’s move on because victory is ours! God will fulfill His purpose in each of us.

Wesley Burke – Redemption Baptist Mission, Nacogdoches

wesleydavidburke@gmail.com

We have had the opportunity in our new work to meet many different people. Some of them have claimed Christ and desired to join our church’s covenant community. As we got to know some of them, we learned that they were participating in openly sinful activity, and we confronted them in love with the gospel message they claimed to believe, but refused to follow in certain public areas. They have chosen to walk away from our membership process. This is hard, but I share it to encourage all of you (especially pastors) to remember that the way is narrow, not broad, and Jesus Himself is sovereign and in control. It is He who looked at 5,000 and said, “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day” (John 6:44). After this speech, full of hard truth, only the 12 remained, one of whom was a devil (Jesus words concerning Judas). We are not Christ. I am not saying that, but we are under-shepherds (pastors) and sheep. Trust the Lord in these strange and difficult days and let the increase be because of Him and the promises of his Word, not just your efforts. This has been a hard but rewarding lesson for us to learn.

And after some days Paul said to Barnabas said, “Let us return and visit the brothers in every city where we proclaimed the word of the Lord, and see how they are” (Acts 15:36).

We will do well to remember that our chief example of mission work is Scripture and that Paul and Barnabas had in their mission to simply, “see how they are.” Pastor, do you have other churches and brothers that you regularly speak this way about? Congregant, do you have other members of the body of Christ that this simply yet deep connection has been formed with? If not, find someone and obey the Spirit in these matters. Our unity depends on it, and unity is a precious commodity of the saints in our current hour. Grace to you all!

Prayer Needs:

I have started teaching part-time in a private Christian school in Nacogdoches. Please pray that this will lead to many good connections in the community that would benefit our growth as a body of Christ in the city. Prayer is needed for our intentional efforts to evangelize in Nacogdoches. Pray that God would give growth to our church through biblical conversion.

I just want to thank you to all the BMA churches of Texas for all your support and prayers. We would not be able to do the work we are doing in our mission without your prayers and support. It is a pleasure to share with you what the Lord is doing in our mission as we continue to work in his Kingdom. We are having our services in a rented church building that allows us to grow. Souls are being saved and lives are being transformed by the power of the Lord. You are part of everything that the Lord is doing through this mission. Recently, we had a special event for friends and families to share the gospel with them. We had a good attendance and had the opportunity to share the gospel with them. God continues to work in every family and transform lives.

Prayer Needs:

Pray that God will provide our own building for the services for our mission.

Mike Watt – Cross-Work Mission, Tahoka

mike.watt@crossworkchurch.org

Our little startup church is moving forward. We take comfort in knowing Christ will grow His church (Matthew 16:18). We are challenged to make disciples. Pray that we become a disciple-making church! We are under the conviction that online content is not the same as church. We will continue with value-adding online content. In addition, we have started changing our wording from “stay connected” to “join us for what you can.”

We finished up our sermon series on the attributes of God. Our people were challenged and encouraged weekly for that 8-week series. We are excited to announce that we are getting back into the schools! High school and middle school discovery Bible studies have started as well as our elementary school Bible club. Pray that God uses these programs to get His gospel into the schools and that we can advance His Kingdom and on-ramp people to Cross-Work through these outreach programs.

Prayer Needs:

Please pray that we impact our town with this challenging invitation.

Robert Lee – Harmony Baptist Church in Normangee Replant

bro.robert.f.lee@gmail.com

Our church is certainly looking forward to the days to come. Although the COVID pandemic has slowed our progress, God has been faithful to keep sending new people to be a part of us as we work toward replanting and  I am firmly convinced that God will answer our prayers as we seek open doors in our community. I know that our folks can attest to the power of prayer. We cannot let fear keep us from taking the Gospel to those around us.. There is a lot of work left to be done here. One of my friends who pastors another church here shared some statistics with me the other day that his denomination had gathered about Normangee and the surrounding communities. Even before COVID, only 10 percent of our local population attended a church on any given Sunday. There are certainly plenty of people here in the Normangee area in need of the Gospel. I firmly believe that God will continue to be faithful to us and bless this effort to reach our community through this replant.

Prayer Needs:

Pray for opportunities to reach our community, and especially for us to have opportunities to show the love of Christ to our local school.

Neptaly Molina – Iglesia Bautista Mission, Nacogdoches

nrmolina23@gmail.com

I have been reflecting on why I plant new works, and I see there are five reasons why I should plant churches:

1. To follow the biblical strategy

2. To practice evangelism effectively

3. To bring in the harvest

4. To reach new groups of people

5. To obey the Great Commission

We must dedicate our days to God (Psalm 52:8). After the pandemic was announced, the decisions in different parts of the world began to emerge. One of them was the temporary closure of the worship centers, sites of religious meetings with more than 20 participants. For this reason, each organization took its measures and began to meet in smaller groups, due to the closure of the physical structures. But, it is not an impediment to locate a house of God. My dear reader, you are a house of God! In it, you, together with your family, can worship God. You can worship Him, no matter the location. The most important thing is to humbly desire to be an instrument in the hands of the Lord. Take advantage of this day to do it! May your house today and in future be a house of praise to God so that you can enjoy even more the presence of God.

Prayer Needs:

Pray for the Molina Perdomo pastoral Family. Pray for a family we are burdened to reach and a home we pray God restores. I have the opportunity to distribute meals to low-income Hispanic families and attract them to the church. There is a pastor who wants to help me with those groceries for people in need. Pray for this ministry. Pray for evangelistic activities to attract new people to Iglesia Bautista Nuevo Renacer.

Cesar Cantu – Carpenter’s House Church in Oyster Creek

Timothy Alba – Resident Intern in Seagoville

timalba1986@gmail.com

This week, I have been in 1 Peter. I have been studying mostly 1 Peter, chapter 2, where he talks about the church being the living stones and Jesus being the Cornerstone. I love how Peter gives the church the responsibility to represent Jesus in all we do. Peter says in verse 12 of chapter 2 that people will observe our good deeds and will glorify God because of it. I think Peter is remembering Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount. God is calling us all to live according to His Word so that people will observe them and some might get saved. I have learned this month that we have a responsibility to be a light in the world by reflecting Jesus in all we do. This command is not only for pastors or leaders but also for the whole church. We all have a responsibility to Christ in our world. I think the church desperately needs to hear this message once again. The world is watching us more than we know. And people pay attention even when we are not. I think C. H. Spurgeon says it best, “A church life is always more forcible than its speech. When men take stock of it, they reckon its deeds as dollars and its words as pennies. If its life and doctrine disagree the mass of onlookers accept its practice and reject its preaching.” So here is a challenge to you. How can you be a better representative of Jesus this week?

July/August Missions Update

A word from your missions office

By HEITH MITCHELL

There are so many distractions swirling around us in a time that we can’t afford to be distracted. Between virus shut downs, protests, riots and economic threats we are bombarded. It can overwhelm.

The mission Christ left His Church is too critical for distraction. We must share our faith, make disciples, equip leaders and release them to make disciples and start churches. It is critical in every generation but BMA family, JESUS IS GOING TO RETURN. I believe soon. Time is going to run out for others to know and for us to walk faithfully. In the face of a world in upheaval, we must double down.

Let’s not neglect gospel sharing or the equipping of believers to do so. Also, let’s not neglect the care and support of our Texas missionaries on the field. I know that God is being faithful to you and your church. Don’t forget your missionaries. Paul gave us a challenging example when the persecuted New Testament churches took up an offering to help the persecuted church at Jerusalem. We need you.

We do not hope to see these things for our glory or for the BMA, but for the King and His Kingdom. We hope to see this goal become a reality without really focusing on church planting. We want to stay focused on our Great Commission. If we focus on sharing our faith, baptizing and discipling towards obedient Christ followers then these new churches among these unreached pockets of Texans will result.

In this current climate of Cancel Culture and in the face of a real illness, I am overjoyed to report to you that your missionaries reported 21 souls saved during the month of August. This is less than half the reports before COVID-19, but this number is amazing during shut down. Your missionaries are sharing their faith faithfully. They are seeing souls saved and disciples made even in this climate. People are being saved even when churches can’t physically meet. They are laboring hard for the Kingdom. All 30 of your supported missions are meeting live for worship. Discipleship is taking place. House groups are active. Like all churches they are seeing the loss of some who have not returned from the initial shutdown.

We all join you in praying for the end of this virus and shutdown. We pray that God will get glory in this season.

We would love to share with your church about what God is up to and show you how you can be involved. We have tools we can provide you to help you become a partner in church planting. Reach out to us.

My wife has been in good health and we are very happy that her heart is getting better. We went to the cardiologist recently and he congratulated her because he said she had a good heart.

I have been receiving English classes through YouTube since the school I was in is closed due to the coronavirus.

We spent a good time in the Beaumont camp July 22-25. Everything planned by the Baptist Missionary Association of America was a great blessing. The lectures, the adoration, the food, the fun and the impressive testimonies of the speakers was great. God spoke to me and I renewed my commitment to continue letting God work in my mission areas.

Prayer Needs:

For our spiritual lives. Prayer that we win new families in Cushing. Pray also Our Vacation Bible School this month. We will do it in the outdoor park in Nacogdoches. Finally, pray for my graduation in 2021.

Romans 14:23b says, “For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.” There are many options to appease others in these uncertain days, but the Christian must remember to act in regards to their conscience as it is informed by the Word of God. This has encouraged me specifically through quarantine and the COVID-19 pandemic we all face.

Prayer Needs:

Pray that God would grow our church through genuine conversion and that COVID-19 would end.

COVID-19 is forcing all of us to think outside the box when it comes to outreach and connecting with people. As we prayed for new ideas this month, pressure washing popped into our minds. We rented some equipment, and with the help of a few friends, we made a meaningful, lasting connection with about 20 families in our neighborhood pressure washing driveways and other things completely for free. It’s surprising how fast doors open up and conversation starts to happen when you find a meaningful way to love on people like that. The most common question we got was “is this for real” followed up by my favorite “why”. What a great platform for explaining the love of God.

Prayer Needs:

We are getting ready to start our small groups back up and ask that you pray for that to go well.

Chris Driver – West Texas Multiplication Network/Texas Missionary Care

West Texas probably seems like another world to most people, but sadly we are experiencing the same chaos as everyone else. But praise God, like everyone else, we also continue to see God moving and working and the gospel advancing in ways we didn’t expect! Our efforts to reach new small communities here in west Texas is slowly moving on. I am now personally teaching people from five towns, which means we are reaching people in 10 towns here in west Texas! We are still a long way from reaching every town in west Texas, but every person and every town draws us closer. Please continue to pray for a second generation of groups to start from the ones we have already reached.

Prayer Needs:

Continue to pray for us, for the establishment of new small groups and development of the Baptist mission, Victory in Christ. Pray for its forthcoming constitution into Pioneer Church. Infinite thanks for your moral, economic and great encouragement in planting new churches. Pray that we achieve our goal of three new groups so they can join with the church.

Ronnie Mills – Kingdom Chapel Mission, Saginaw/Fort Worth

ronnie@kchapel.org

It’s been a blessing this past month. We dialed back and began to focus on being the church, making disciples and living out the mission Jesus has given us. We are currently moving through the Sermon on the Mount all the way to November 8. Jesus has been wrecking our hearts, and we’re learning more than ever as His disciples. We stopped our online streaming to focus solely on the physical gathering, and have challenged our people to live out who we really are as sacred and set apart. Overall, this has been a very healthy shift for us to remove the production feel, consumerism and wasted energy.

Prayer Needs:

Please pray that Jesus would continue blessing Kingdom Chapel and the investment He is making in our lives. We know we’re tasked, as churches all over the world are, with a great mission, and we just want to be faithful. Please continue to pray and support us. Contact ronnie@kchapel.org for any information or ways to support.

Summer is quickly coming to a close and school will be starting soon. There are many questions as to what that will look like in our area. I am sure that is the same in your area as well. There seems to be so much uncertainty in our world today. We are continuing to navigate how COVID-19 is affecting our community and our church. We continue to reach out to our community in new ways. We are seeing people saved through our online content and ministering to a lot of new people online and have good conversations with them. People are hurting, their marriages are struggling, they are fearful, etc. All these things are leading to conversations with people in our area. I ask that you would continue to pray for us as we minister during this different time. We thank you for your continued support and prayers.

Prayer Needs:

Pray for us as we lead our church through COVID-19.

June Missions Update

A word from your missions office

By HEITH MITCHELL

Don’t forget about your missionaries on the field in these trying times. They need your faithful financial support along with your prayers and encouragement. They are faithfully serving the Lord. There were 17 more souls saved this month!

Please don’t forget them as God faithfully provides for your church and you. They depend on your giving for their salary and equipping. Most churches have continued to faithfully give, but 24 churches did not give last month. We trust that the Lord will provide and bless each of you.

Thank you for praying for baby Tripp last month. He is home! He is doing very well.  Continue to pray for the Brockway family.

We would love to share with your church about what God is up to and show you how you can be involved. I am personally available to come and share. We also have tools we can provide you to help you become a partner in church planting. Reach out to us.

Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.

A word from your missionaries

Cesar Cantu – Intern preparing for West Columbia

cesarhcantu42@gmail.com

The Hebrew writer highlights speaking and hearing as signs of life.

• How good are we at reading others’ distress?

• Can we tell when there is life in someone?

• How do I know if you are saved?

Proverbs 18:21says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. With all this power at the tip of our tongue, how then can we revive someone. How can we bring life back into that person?

In John 10:27, Jesus says, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me…”

Some of us have been highly qualified to lead in a certain direction. We have been in those dark places and are learning how to come out of them. The purpose of this is so that we may lead others out into life and light.

Allow God to qualify you even in those dark places. You will become a much better minister to others in doing so.

God is sovereign even when his church is forcibly scattered. May the scattering from this pandemic grow all of your hearts to value the gathering more in days to come.

Prayer Needs:

Pray that we will be able to share the gospel in a post COVID-19 world.

Mike Watt – Cross-Work Mission, Tahoka

mike.watt@crossworkchurch.org

During the COVID-19 Pandemic, we started having the Lord’s Supper at our regular service time. We just gathered for 15-20 minutes. Most recently, we observed the Lord’s Supper followed by a watch party for the sermon with social distance recommendations. We are beginning to reintroduce our people to gather. In addition, we led a city-wide prayer walk for the month of May and had most of our members take time each week to cover our city in prayer. Our online schedule has kept us very busy and seems to be effective.

Prayer Needs:

Pray for our little church plant as we keep moving forward while allowing our people to re-engage at their pace. Maintaining our online routines will be vital to be inclusive as we seek the Lord for our next steps. Cross-Work has a lot of new coming our way! The biggest new thing is our new location. We will be moving forward with a soft launch and hope to soon be able to celebrate and get some community involvement with our new space.

Jesse Hales – Starting Point Mission in Round Rock

Dual Support BMAA/BMAT

halesjesse@gmail.com

As Chris [Mindi] and I begin to merge or two church planting efforts, God is already starting to show us the many benefits to working as a team. We are both so excited about what God is doing. One major blessing for our family has been how God has provided us a new house to rent in the perfect location. We are still in Round Rock, close to the people we have already been connecting with, but we are now much closer to Chris and Sarah and the future home of the church. We are still moving into the new place and are meeting new people every day. God has even started to open doors with more of our current neighbors at our apartment. God is good and we thank you for your prayers.

Prayer Needs:

Pray that we will be able to connect with our new neighbors well and use those connections to share the gospel in a meaningful way. Please pray for the ongoing merger as we continue to form our partnership with Chris and Sarah Mindi and the church planting work they are doing. Pray for those that have reached out to us recently who are looking for “healthier” friendships, that we can be the light in their darkness. Thank you.

Jaime Garcia – Iglesia Bautista Nueva Vida Mission, Gilmer/Mesquite

jaime.garcia2911@gmail.com

I have gratitude in my heart for all of you and recognize you as participants in missionary work just as the Apostle Paul wrote in his letter to the Romans in Romans 16 names a list of people who participated in missionary work together with him, forming a team to achieve the purpose of his ministry. I still believe that God sends us people willing to collaborate in our ministries, the churches of the association and the missionaries. We are together bringing the good news of Jesus into the world. Thank you for allowing me to be part of the winning team. Blessings.

We want to reflect and evaluate well the strategies we have been using to continue building the missionary work here in Nacogdoches and Lufkin and to renew the vision as expressed in John 4:35, to raise our eyes to the fields that are already white for the harvest. We have to pray to the lord of the harvest to send more workers to his fields.

Thank you for your support in prayer, location, establishment and execution to achieve the stipulated goals. We serve the Lord with more dedication in the work of planting new growing groups, despite COVID-19. But the pandemic does not stop evangelism and discipleship. The gospel is not oppressed. Thank you for being God’s instruments in blessing our lives. We love Him. Keep praying for us.

Ronnie Mills – Kingdom Chapel Mission, Saginaw/Fort Worth

ronnie@kchapel.org

Hey, BMA family! I want to thank you for your continued prayers and support for our mission here in Saginaw. We have been richly blessed, and just as many of you, we’ve certainly had some challenging times during the past several months. Here’s my biggest takeaway, and what the Lord has been teaching me. Stay faithful. I have been dwelling on the parable of the ten minas, and at first glance it seems to be about results or talents and gifts. But a closer look reveals all Jesus wants is for us to remain faithful to Him. Leave the results to Him, stay faithful. Those are the words that have been ringing in my ears through this quarantine and now, with civil unrest. In the midst of all of this, we’ve seen the Lord do incredible things among us. Hearts are turning to God. We’ve seen people overcome fear, turn from their idols and deepen their love for their Savior. We take discipleship very seriously here at Kingdom Chapel, and we are still thriving in a love for Jesus, and His gospel. Blessings to you all!

Prayer Needs:

Pray for us as a church, that we love and serve well, that we continue to remain faithful to the task at hand and humbly advance the cause of Christ.

Matthew Prather – The Bridge Mission, Midlothian/Waxahachie

The past few months have been challenging for all churches. We are no different. We moved to online services only for about 10 weeks. In the middle of May, we did two outdoor services and now we are back in our building. Pray for us as we minister to those that are ready to meet in person and those that are not ready yet. During the time that we were meeting online only, we met a lot of people online. We received many messages from people struggling, hurting and seeking God. We saw two people saved from our online efforts and we praise God for them! We are continuing our online efforts in order to continue to reach our community during this time. Please pray for us as we navigate this time. Thank you for your continued prayers and support. They are much needed during this time!

May Missions Update

A word from your missions office

By HEITH MITCHELL

God is faithful! You, the churches of the BMA of Texas, are faithful! Your missionaries are faithful! As I write to you for the second time during this crisis, this is what I am pleased to report.

God is faithful! He is sustaining and protecting the work of BMA of Texas Missions. He is even advancing the Kingdom during this trying time. He is faithful to guide us, provide for us and protect us. We both expect it and are awestruck by it, I want to praise the Lord!

You are faithful! God is using you to sustain this ministry. You are walking this crisis and are still walking in faith. I know this because you continue to faithfully provide for your supported missionaries. This has been amazing encouragement to each of them. They know you love and care about them because you haven’t neglected them in your own hardship.

Your missionaries are faithful! They have seen 18 salvations since the shutdown! They are taking care of their people and reaching out to and serving their community. The men are putting in more hours than ever. They could use your prayers and words of encouragement.

I ask you to pray for your missionary Nick Brockway in the town of Meadow, Texas. Nick and Jennifer had their fifth child named Tripp this month. He has a heart issue and Down Syndrome. Tripp is progressing but has spent 3 weeks in the hospital with at least a month to go. Pray for baby Tripp and his family.

We would love to share with your church about what God is up to and show you how you can be involved.   I am personally available to come and share.  We also have tools we can provide you to help you become a partner in church planting. Reach out to us.

Together we are laboring and praying with the hope of seeing:

Not for our glory, not for the BMA, but for the King and His Kingdom. We hope to see this goal become a reality without really focusing on church planting. We want to stay focused on our Great Commission. If we focus on sharing our faith, baptizing, and discipling towards obedient Christ followers then these new churches among these unreached pockets of Texans will result.

We would love to share with your church about what God is up to and show you how you can be involved. We have tools we can provide you to help you become a partner in church planting. Reach out to us.

Let us not be afraid to fail.

Matthew 14:28-29 says “And Peter answered him, ‘Lord if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.’ He said, “Come.” So, Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus.  But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, ‘Lord, save me.’

In this encounter, Peter learned what it felt like to move in a direction Christ was asking him to move. Yet the anxiety of the situation causes Peter to fear and lose focus. What we see as failure, Christ used to build confidence and caution at the same time in Peter. We should be so bold to ask God to command us to come.

Jesse Hales – Starting Point Mission in Round Rock

halesjesse@gmail.com

At the end of February, our six month internship with Antioch, Georgetown ended and we met with the leadership of both the BMA of Texas and the BMA of America. They were excited to see what God has been doing. With that, they shared the same main concern we have had from the beginning which is our lack of another missionary family to partner with in this ministry. It’s not impossible for one family to start a church on their own, but history and scripture show that it is much preferred to minister with a partner. We’ve been praying for such a partner since we first felt God leading us here.

The leadership of both associations agreed to continue to support us with the understanding that we would keep praying and actively seeking such a partner in ministry.  They also asked if we would be willing to pray about the possibility of merging our ministry and partnering with Chris Mindi, another BMA church planter nine miles away in Leander. Chris and I went through assessment together and moved to the same area at the same time with the same purpose to start a new church and see people saved and grow in God. We have both been praying for a long time, asking God to give us a ministry partner. As they asked if I would pray about it, they made sure I didn’t feel any pressure from them to answer one way or another but simply pointed out from their observations that we seemed to be a great match for each other. I told them I would pray about it.

After having several meetings with Chris and Sarah and reaching out to several of our closest prayer warriors, we spent time waiting on God and praying for clear direction. After about a month and a half I felt that God had clearly knit my heart together with Chris’ and made it clear that we were to join them in ministry.

We are all very excited to see what God is going to do with this new partnership. I’m sure as I have time and space in the future to share more with you about this, you too will see how incredible God is in the way He has brought us and fit us together. He never ceases to amaze me.

Although this will be a big change for us there are a lot of things that will not change. We have made a lot of great contacts here in Round Rock and fully plan to continue to grow those relationships. Nothing is changing about our support or how to send that in. Our dependence on your prayers certainly doesn’t change either, nor does our commitment to starting a church to see people saved and growing in discipleship. What does change is now we have a partner and can do that much more effectively. Thank you, and we will do our best to keep in touch more regularly.

Prayer Needs:

  1. For souls to be saved
  2. For the effects of this pandemic to continue to open hearts to the truth of the Gospel
  3. For guidance as we go through the merging of the two church plants

I cannot tell a lie. I’m tired of this whole mess. But in my weariness, I stand amazed in the presence of the Nazarene! I stand amazed at His faithfulness! I stand amazed at His wisdom! I stand amazed at His sovereignty over all things! He has opened a great big door for me to personally reach into the community of Sundown that wasn’t there before this virus! I have been invited into fellowship with 15-20 men from Sundown by a young man I ran into at the local hardware store. There is a tremendous opportunity to see God start a church and deeply impact this town for Christ! Needless to say, I am pretty excited about walking through this door! Please pray for us and this opportunity. God is definitely on the move here in west Texas!

April Missions Update

A word from your missions office

By HEITH MITCHELL

These are odd and uncertain times. A month ago, we didn’t see our current reality coming but God did! I am so reminded this morning that the path in front of us is only ever known to God. At times we feel so “in control” but we aren’t. We aren’t in control but we also aren’t alone. I write to you quarantined from home thanks to an unexpected pandemic but I am “Safe in the arms of Jesus.” I am also very aware that “This world is not my home. I’m just passing through.” I am rejoicing in my hope of eternity.  (You can tell there are songs on my heart today.)

Your missionaries are carrying  on through this season like champs. Though they are quarantined they have reported saved this month. They continue to share their faith, disciple, and equip the saints for the work of ministry. The most negatively affected are those who are in the very early stages of mission work in their communities. Wesley, Kingsley, and Jesse were just beginning engagement and are now on hold. These families could feel the most isolated as well. Join me in praying for them.

Overall, the mission is moving forward. Your missionaries, like you, are making the most of technology and available methods to continue the work. We all long for the new normal that is to follow this. We know that some of the methods we are currently engaging are a cheap substitute for the church face to face and hand in hand. Each mission is being the church and doing the work of the church though. These men are innovative. They have helped equipp many of you with tools to take care of your people. We have been blessed with the opportunity to help facilitate that. If we can help you, please let us know.

I want to remind you that the mission of God for his church is alive and well. We must engage with more urgency than ever. Jesus Christ will come back! I know we long and look for his return but our communities and this world need to be prepared for his return. We must help them prepare.

Together we are laboring and praying with the hope of seeing:

PROJECT 2029

So much of ministry is about recognizing and walking in God’s timing and not your own. All that is happening in our nation has proven that to me once again. And like everyone, here in west Texas we are trying to navigate this unprecedented time and see it as a God given opportunity to see Him do something we could never have imagined or planned ourselves. Our guys are continuing to find ways to meet and minister to the people they have as well as find new ways to meet and minister to new folks as well. I’m super proud of how they’ve responded and how God is using them! I can’t wait to see all the fruit that God creates out of what looks like a chaotic mess!!

This time of COVID-19 lockdown has caused me to reflect on how much I miss the gathered body. My admonishment to all is to thank God for the graces we have received during this time to connect with one another. We must learn to number our days (Psalm 90) during this time and increase our longing to gather again one day in the future. Until then, we must rest in the sovereignty of God over all things. Even the microbe of Coronavirus.

Prayer Needs:

We met six weeks as a gathered church before COVID-19 sanctions prevented us. Now, when we do gather, it will be like launching all over again. Pray that we will glorify God and not get discouraged by this. Pray that we will be equipping ourselves in this season and that our team will be ready to go when the sanctions lift.
